Christmas Quilt - Custom Quilting! from Busy Hands Quilts

I recently custom quilted this beautiful Christmas quilt using an evergreen tree design with a star and moon for a special touch.

The fabric is Holly's Tree Farm with a white background. This beautiful fabric collection is available right here. The backing is a Kinderfolk print by Connecting Threads. The quilt pattern is a simple sashed charm square design that lets the fabric shine.

This quilt was made by Andrea. She chose a striped fabric from the collection for the binding, one of my favorite ways to bind a quilt. :)

Custom Quilting - Bartholomeow Reef Baby Quilt! from Busy Hands Quilts

This is a baby quilt I custom quilted for Andrea.

The pattern is a basic brick pattern. This may have been made from a layer cake; I'm not sure.

Fabric is Bartholo-Meow Reef by Moda. You'll find it right here. It's the cutest collection of nautical-themed prints, perfect for a boy. The backing is a beautiful wave print from the collection.

The quilting is a meandering anchor design design in medium blue thread, done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

And then there's that polka dot binding ... my fave print for binding ever!!

The quilt pattern is Color Weave, a layer cake friendly pattern. You'll find it right here.

Quilting is Woven Wind in white thread, completed on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher. I love the old-fashioned look this adds to the quilt, though I'm not sure I've ever seen an antique quilt with quilting like this! That idea may be only floating around in my head.

Kansas Red and White Throw Quilt in Just Red, a custom quilting project by Busy Hands Quilts.

This is a quilt made by Andrea which I custom quilted for her in a new-to-me design. Her request was something bubbly, so bubbly it is!

Executing this design on my longarm required a tutorial as I had never wrapped a design around so the next row is half dropped to the previous row. Learning this technique has opened up a ton of new quilt designs that I will be able to use on my machine.

Custom Quilting Neverland Baby Quilt! from Busy Hands Quilts

I custom quilted this Neverland baby quilt with a fun star and swirl panto. Sometimes it's a challenge to think of which design to use on a quilt, but this was an easy choice for this Peter Pan-themed quilt. This is a quilt of Andrea's, and I also bound it for her. I've begun working on custom quilting on Saturdays after the chores are done, and it's a great incentive to bust them out!

This year was entirely different for me than any previous year as a quilter, so rather than featuring only the best of 2019, this is a brief history of all of 2019.

This year I made less quilts than last year and instead wrote a ton of quilt patterns. So many, in fact, that I lost count and had to look it up myself, and when I saw the number I got so tired that I had to go take a nap. No wonder I dropped off the blogging bandwagon this year - there was simply no time to do it ...
